Professor Barrett L. Mckown
Barry joined the Maryland Society in 1979 as a member of the John Paul Jones Chapter and has been a member in good standing for 43 years. He served in numerous roles in the Chapter. In 1984 he became President of his Chapter.
He started in 1985 as State Registrar and after a few years started in the role as vice president.
In 1991, Barry became Maryland’s 68th President. He returned at State Registrar and in 2003 became Maryland’s Treasurer for many years and then Treasurer Emeritus. He was for years the Senior advisor on any number of topics and history of the society.
After serving as Maryland’s trustee, he became Vice President General of the Mid Atlantic District in 1993. For a decade, he was the Chairman of the National Congress Planning Committee. He was awarded the National Society’s highest honor, the Minuteman Award in 1995.
