The Col. John Eager Howard Chapter presented two checks to the C.A.R. for their 2016 activities today. At the Nov 7th and Jan. 30th Meetings, the JEH Chapter voted to contribute to the C.A.R.’s objectives. The mission of the National SAR encourages each SAR Chapter to support a local Chapter of the C.A.R. and the JEH Chapter approved a donation of $100 at its November 7th meeting to the Thomas Johnson Society which serves the Baltimore area. Accepting on their behalf, the Thomas Johnson C.A.R. President Kayleigh Gott received the donation check. At the January Maryland State SAR meeting, the MDSSAR approved $1,250 to the Maryland C.A.R. for their March Conference and asked each Chapter to contribute $50 each. The JEH Chapter approved this request at its January 30th Board Meeting and Sr. C.A.R. State President Holly Atherton accepted on behalf of the State C.A.R. Chapter Treasurer (and Past President) Christos Christou Jr. presented both checks on behalf of the Chapter using an opportunity at a Daughters of 1812 Meeting of the Chasseur Chapter to present these checks at a historic venue in Brookeville MD - site of the location of President James Madison fleeing the burning of Washington for a day during the War of 1812 in August 1814.
The C.A.R. continues to need SAR support not just financial support but volunteers from the SAR. If you are interested, please let us know. Sr. Officers and Sr. Chairman are needed especially. And all are invited to the upcoming C.A.R. State Conference on March 4-6th. The Saturday evening Awards ceremony is a great opportunity to see the activities of the Society if you can just make one event that is the one to do.
