The Haversack - December 2014

Compatriots and Friends of the SAR,

I’m pleased to announce the December edition of The Haversack, the Newsletter of the Sergeant Lawrence Everhart Chapter Maryland Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. The objective of The Haversack is to inform Chapter members and partners of our activities, goals and achievements on a regular basis.

In this issue:

John Hanson Flag Award Ceremony

Attached is the photo taken on Nov 24, 2014 awarding the Flag Certificate of recognition to Jerry and Sue TePaske, who live in the Tantallion Community of Fort Washington. This flag display is quite unique as it is flown from the deck in the rear of the house facing the Potomac River for all to see always waving in the wind as can be seen in the picture.

Making the presentation were Douglas Stuart and George Satterthwaite of the John Hanson Chapter with Sue and Jerry Paske holding the certificate

Jackson Day Meeting

The War of 1812 Society in the State of Maryland invites members of the Sons of the American Revolution to participate in our Annual January Jackson Day Celebration on January 17th. Please feel free to send this invitation along with your January announcements as we are happy to host your January breakfast and meeting at the MD Club prior to this luncheon again this year.

John Hanson Chapter Eagle Scout Award Presentation

George Satterthwaite, Secretary, John Hanson Chapter, presented the SAR Eagle Scout Certificate of Recognition to Isiah M Burroughs, at the Boy Scout Troop 1572 Eagle Scout Court of Honor on November 15, 2014 at St Mary's Church of Piscataway.  Eagle Scout Burroughs compiled a distinguished record up the ladder to Eagle earning 36 merit badges and organizing a youth ID Fair wherein he provided fingerprint IDs to 68 children of all ages.
